Pictures from the Heart
Holli Stevenson was lured into the art of photography when she started taking pictures of her son, who is suffering from amblyoma. Her son hated his pictures, but that didn't stop her.
I discovered it really wasn't very hard to take a nice shot of a kid with crossed eyes. I reached out to some of the moms with other kids who had physical disabilities and we collaborated on portrait projects that would better express our kids' strengths and uniqueness, rather than highlighting their disabilities for everyone to see. From there, friends asked me to shoot their family pictures, and eventually, my children's school asked me to take over school portraits.
Holli's favorite project is the Tuscaloosa Rising Mission trip in 2013. She took three other photographers to Tuscaloosa, Alabama and provided free family portraits to the victims.
I spent a lot of time working with other professionals (for free!) to learn the ins and outs of the business. I worked diligently with a marketing guru to develop my brand and my style so that I could sell myself.
Consider somebody as passionate as Holli to capture all the moments that matter!
