Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Don't get the cheapest, closest instructor available without making sure that's really who you want your child studying with. There are cheaper teachers out there than me....but I think you'll find the price I charge is worth the services I give. Check out a few teachers before deciding on one.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. All private instructors are not equal! Don't go with the least expensive, or the most expensive just to save money, or to get the best. Price may indicate education, but it is not necessarily akin to good teaching. I am confident that once you come to me for lessons you will be more than happy with my services, but please shop around and see for yourself!

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. You will not learn to play the violin or viola from lessons alone. Daily practice is a must and a requirement to study with me. Make sure you're ready to make time in your schedule and commit to the work lessons will require of you. If you don't want to put in the work, you need to be looking for an easier hobby that doesn't require work and discipline. However, if you're ready to commit, then come on over! If you have the will you can learn!

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. I consider the lessons I offer unique in several ways:

1) I do not teach Suzuki to young children, but offer them a more complete study of music right from the beginning.

2) I offer opportunities for my students to perform in recitals for no extra fee.

3) I treat my students as individuals, with individual needs, interests and goals.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. I love to see my students "get it". I work very hard to instruct my students in a manner that makes sense to them, and when the light bulb goes on, or when after weeks or months of hard work they finally make a break through, it's just as exciting for me as it is for them!

Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?

A. I teach because I love it, not because I have to, and my students receive the benefit of this love!
