Guitar Lessons

A guitar lesson from Chris Primeau will not be your typical affair. Each week, a lesson plan will be custom designed to the direction of your guitar style. Your teacher will arrive to your lesson with handwritten materials, songs and exercises catering to your playing.

You want to learn a new song? Just request it, and I will learn it, write out the parts and teach them to you during your lesson.

Do you need to strengthen your alternate picking? Brand-new exercises will be crafted to your skill level and style.

Are you a jazz duo that needs a bass line? I’ll write out the line to a standard and show you how to apply the technique to other tunes.

No winging it, and there is no wasting your time. I will work as hard as I can to make you a better guitar player. I cater to all ages, all skill and experience levels—beginner to advanced.

Experience levels:

• Beginners

* Learn the chords to your favorite and songs and theory behind why those chords work together
* Develop the right hand chops to play the rhythm guitar part to any of your favorite tunes
* Learn the basic major, minor and pentatonic scales with which to write melodies, tunes, improvise
* Strengthen your fretboard hand with exercises for dexterity
* Discover how to enjoy playing the guitar and keep it from being stressful

• Intermediate

* Develop your picking speed using well-tested right-handed exercises
* Learn fingerstyle techniques to give your rhythm playing more texture and interest
* Add expressive vibrato and string bending to your soloing to become more soulful
* Discover each mode to broaden your improvisation, songwriting and composition
* Spice up you improvisation using sequences, arpeggios and various other patterns

• Advanced

* Add tensions and extensions to your chords to make them sound more colorful
* Learn to make your rhythm playing more intrigue by adding fills based on chord forms
* Develop your improvisation with exercises emphasizing:

- Motivic development
- Phrase lengths
- Rhythmic density
- Upper structure triads
- Dynamics and much more

* Discover my special two-handed technique that allows me to improvise solely using tapping

My rate is $25 per half-hour lesson and $45 per hour.

Biography:

Chris Primeau is a May 2009 summa cum laude graduate of the Berklee College of Music with a B.M. in Music Performance (guitar). In 12 years of playing, he has studied and performed nearly every contemporary guitar style that exists.

Well-trained as a guitarist, his past teachers have included the likes of Tim Miller, Guy Van Duser, Don Lappin, Jon Finn, and many more notable top industry professionals.

Currently, he plays lead guitar in The Rocket Brothers.
