Ms. LaVanway was an exceptional teacher. She clearly had an extensive background in the topic, drawing from her personal experiences working abroad. She brought in guest speakers that were extremely relevant to the course material we were learning, making me more excited and invested in the coursework on global citizenship and cultural climates. Ms. LaVanway is a wonderful person and even better teacher who is truly passionate about her pedagogy and material.

Cara was my one of my High School history teachers and she was fantastic. She was always available to talk about the subject matter, but more importantly she was always available to talk about life in general. There was never a dull moment in her class and I wish I could take it again!

I had Cara LaVanway as a history teacher for two years in high school. She always kept the students engaged and had a love and passion for the subject that positively influenced my own interest in the material.

Cara was my high school history teacher for two years. I loved going to her class because she always kept it fun and interesting even if we spent the whole class reading. She always made sure we understood the material by providing important historical context and connecting different historical periods.

Cara LaVanway was my world history teacher in high school and was one of my favorite teachers. Her years of experience traveling the globe enabled her to bring the course material to life. Whether it was bringing in Turkish delight while we were studying the Ottoman Empire or helping us to remember the Mesopotamians by playing related music by They Might be Giants, Cara really brought history to life and most importantly, made learning enjoyable. She is a wonderful teacher whose passion and commitment to her students encourages them to put forth their best effort—as a result, I became a much better student and developed a thirst for learning!
