About Affairs of the Art Hanging art is an art in and of itself. At Affairs of the Art, we believe artwork deserves more than a measuring tape and a level—it deserves an experienced eye. With over 30 years of experience in custom picture framing, museum-quality art installation, and fine art, I specialize in residential, corporate, gallery, and institutional installations. My portfolio includes projects for Amazon HQ2, Amazon's Herndon Data Center, Urban Land Institute, Scout Bags, Farmer Mac, R Street Institute, the American Pharmacists Association, MDOT, Joint Base Andrews, Washington National Cathedral, Berry Bros. & Rudd, International Justice Mission, ICI, and numerous private collectors, interior designers, and homeowners throughout the Washington, DC region. As a professional illustrator and fine artist by degree, I understand artwork from the artist's perspective. Having also been trained by interior designers, I know that artwork doesn't exist in isolation—it completes a room. Every installation considers balance, proportion, architecture, lighting, furniture placement, and the overall design of the space. One question I'm frequently asked is: "How do you even hang art?" It's an excellent question, because the answer is rarely as simple as finding a stud. Every installation is unique. I consider factors such as: Structural considerations Size and weight of the artwork Existing hanging hardware Whether better hardware should be installed Wall construction (drywall, plaster, brick, concrete, masonry, metal studs, etc.) Safety and long-term stability Design considerations Proper viewing height Relationship to surrounding furniture and architecture Visual balance within the room Gallery spacing and alignment Traffic flow and sight lines The goal is always the same: artwork that is both beautifully displayed and securely installed. The most rewarding part of my work is watching a client's vision come to life and seeing the smile on their face when everything finally feels complete. Cancellation / No-Show Policy My schedule is typically booked well in advance. Because last-minute cancellations are nearly impossible to refill, appointments canceled with less than 24 hours' notice, or missed appointments without notice, are subject to a cancellation fee.
