I wish I could be allowed to give more than 5 stars for Maya, because she is *that* phenomenal. Last year, Maya was one of my son's pre-school teachers, and she quickly became one of my favorite people on the planet. When he told Maya that he wanted to learn how to play the guitar (after seeing her give a demonstration in class), Maya immediately offered to teach him the ukulele, as his starting point. This was a transformative moment for him. Before his first lesson, I thought: "Could a 3-1/2 year old boy really learn how to play the ukulele?" This thought never should have crossed my mind with Maya at the helm. She is remarkable with children. She has developed a method for teaching music to young children that engages them quickly, is developmentally appropriate, and instills in them focused habits for advancement. And, she makes music FUN. My son learned 2 or 3 chords in his first lesson (!!), and with each lesson thereafter, he built upon his previously acquired skills and had so much fun. On the last day of school before summer vacation, he surprised Maya by bringing his ukulele to school and played a duet with her in front of his whole class. Maya not only gave him the gift of making his own music, but also helped his self-confidence bloom. We were devastated that Maya moved out of our area and is no longer able to give my son lessons. But, what she left behind was such a tremendous love of the ukulele, that he has continued lessons with another teacher and is building on his skills every week. Maya is one-of-a-kind: a bright, shining star that envelops everyone in her path in brilliant light. She spreads love everywhere she goes. She is kind, honest, intelligent, and extremely talented. She is a gem of a person. You need look no further in your search for a music teacher.

Maya was a pleasure to work with! She was communicative, on time, and most importantly, she played beautiful music! We had Maya play violin as background music for an event, but she could have been the sole purpose for our gathering. She is a talented musician, sincere, positive and passionate. Many guests at my networking event told me how impressed they were that I found her.
