Introduction: First off, I would like to thank you for taking the time to review my page. I hope that the information provided here gives you an understanding of who I am and what I can do for you as a tutor. If you would like me to expand upon anything mentioned on this page, please feel free to send me a message. I hope to hear from you. I have over 6 years of private tutoring experience for math classes ranging from 2nd grade arithmetic to proof based real analysis. Unlike many tutors, this is not my side job. This is my career. I work full time as a private tutor and I can guarantee that I have experience helping a student with a problem just like yours. My teaching method focuses on empowering first and foremost. I currently work with over 30 families in the South East and Mid Michigan area. About 50% of my clients are college students in classes ranging from college physics, calculus, to linear algebra and advanced statistics. The other half of my clients are in high school or middle school math or science courses. I earned a degree in Advanced Mathematics from Michigan State University. This means that I can not only show you how to solve your mathematical problems, but I can show you why things work the way that they do! I love to teach math, and it shows. With me, math will be fun. I use a very objective and refined teaching style that balances instruction with independent work that will set you up for success in this math class and beyond! I never move on before my student has shown me that they are capable of solving the problems through their own volition. In addition to math, I have experience teaching and tutoring physics, chemistry, biology, and ACT/SAT test prep. I have worked as a private tutor, a university lecturer, and as a department chair in a tutoring center. Unlike many tutors, tutoring is my full time job. I do this for a living and the level of professionalism and customer service that you will receive with me is unparalleled. We will sit down, design a goal-based plan and map out what it will take to reach your goals.

Bennett has tutored me many times with varying math courses and I couldn't be more pleased with the results. (Multi variable calculus, linear algebra, abstract algebra, analysis) He always has gone above and beyond such as checking out rooms at the library for us to use or staying longer if needed. One time he felt he took longer to explain something than he should have and dissatisfied with this, he worked with me for 15 minuets extra to make up for it. - This was totally unexpected and speaks to his integrity. Bennett has a great skill to explain things clearly and articulately rather than simply writing symbols on the board with the hope the student is following. He has helped me to more thoroughly understand the reasons why something is done in addition to grasping the concepts of the course, in a fundamental way, rather than just learning how to solve homework problems. Often he will explain the intentions of a concept before beginning a problem which implements it. Additionally, he has never been bothered by having to reexplain something 3 or 4 times to me. It's a joy to work with Bennett as he is not only the most intelligent tutor I have had but his passion for math is clear. We've had many discussions about ideas, not always related to the course work, but things I have read and wanted to learn more about - something many tutors would shy from due to not having a genuine curiosity and passion for math. Bennett also uses a "figure it out" mindset when tackling a new problem or one without an obvious answer. In summary, Bennett is the type of guy I want on my team if I'm in a spaceship and something goes awry because I know he could find a solution to the problem.

I was really struggling in Physics at Michigan State University, so I sought out Bennett for a tutor. He was very patient with me, even when I was frustrated or distracted, and we were able to work through the entire semester together. His teaching style is unique in that he can take even the most complex concepts in thermodynamics or particle physics and create real-world examples.that helped me relate to the material. By explaining the reasoning behind different equations, he helped me really learn and remember the material, rather than simply plugging in numbers. I feel like I understand the material on a deeper level now, and can translate how I learned in this class to any other class I take. Bennett doesn't just teach, he teaches students how to LEARN. Because of my tutoring sessions with Bennett, I am a more adaptable and capable student. I recommend him to everyone I know without hesitation. He is simply the best there is.

Bennett was an excellent tutor for my son. His explanations were very clear, and he was extremely responsive and always glad to talk about how my son was doing and how to improve his understanding of the subject matter, which was Algebra 2, this past school year.
