Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: Use the wisdom of Budo, and confidence from learning how to move your body, and focus your mind. Weather for personal protection or finding solutions in challenging situations, the warrior arts and philosophies of ancient Japan are fused with modern combative realities for effectiveness in both training and application. Sharing this knowledge to the best of my abilities keeps the spirit of Budo alive, and honors the teachers who have shared their skills and wisdom. These disciplines have been extraordinarily valuable in my own life, and in those I have the privilege to train with.

Having trained in traditional, sport, and street oriented martial arts, and having used these skills on the job I have found Seibukan Jujutsu to be the most comprehensive art form for training practical skills as well as the mind and spirit. Sensei Legato is a very knowledgeable Sensei who has spent years honing not only his martial knowledge and skill, but also his intellect and spirit. Having been a student with and of Alex I can attest to his eagerness to learn and share all aspects of traditional and modern martial arts and self defense. Sensei Legato cultivates in himself and others the "white belt" mentality of an open heart and mind held by the greatest masters. You can find no better teacher or art!

I could not recommend anyone more highly as a martial arts instructor. Sensei Legato is a highly experienced, dedicated teacher who has trained with a variety of grandmasters and high ranking students both in the United States and Japan. When I was working towards my black belt, he arranged weekend sessions on his free time to train myself and others. He is a teacher who will teach you not only to defend yourself and others, but to assimilate the philosophical teachings of martial arts into your lifestyle. His dedication to your growth will not end when you leave the mat, and as such I consider him a lifelong teacher and role model.

Legato Shihan is an outstanding martial artist. More importantly, he is a patient, kind and thoughtful teacher. His structure and approach are excellent.

Alex is an amazing teacher. He is knowledgeable, caring, supportive, and experienced in these arts. Although I only trained with him for a short time, I left each session feeling empowered, inspired and excited to practice what I learned.

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

1-Month Tryout! (plus free intro class!) $49

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

First is to listen to the training goals of the new student, set appropriate expectations, and share information about the martial arts we practice. I encourage people to observe a class and go from there. I also do many one-on-one introductory classes, as well as private sessions, if the student can't attend regular class times. I usually recommend the 2-week starter package, and see if this is truly the self-defense system you are looking for.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have trained for over 10 years, and have taught Seibukan Jujutsu since 2013. For over 3 years during that time I trained as Uchideshi (full-time student) under Julio Toribio - Kancho, (founder of Seibukan Jujutsu) and Hanshi - Rosas, In Monterey California. I completed the instructor certification, and also reached Menkyo Kaiden Shihan, Licensed Instructor, with the rank of Nanadan, 7th degree black belt in 2014. I have been teaching here in Boulder, CO now since 2015. I also hold Godan, 5th degree in Enshin Itto-Ryu Battojutsu (Art of The Katana); Nidan, 2nd degree in Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu - Ninjutsu; Shodan in Seibukan Jojutsu (Art of the Japanese Staff); and Brown Belt in Aikido. I have also attended numerous seminars, and Traveled to Japan on several occasions to train with 5 grandmasters of these respective arts.
