FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I first try to assess the level of the student, and discuss concepts and give exercises that best fit their level. If the student has a clear idea of what they want to learn, I will make that the priority and choose exercises that will be helpful towards that specific goal. For example, I had a student who told me from up front that he would like to be able to play songs he hears on the radio - so we focused on ear training. If the student is not sure about what direction he/she wants to pursue, I can give clear guidance as to what I feel would be great skills to have as a saxophonist, and as a musician.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Jazz Studies from University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. While in school I studied with jazz greats such as Geri Allen, Robert Hurst, and Andrew Bishop.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
I've worked with various types of customers, from kids, students, to adults. I like to make sure that I give the right level of autonomy so he or she can not only be guided effectively, but is following their own curiosities and goals.
