Introduction: Hello! My name is Imuya, and I am a licensed massage therapist in Washington and Oregon. I work out of a private clinical space in Milwaukie, OR, my home studio in Camas, WA, and I make home and business calls. I specialize in deep tissue, structural bodywork, prenatal/postpartum, craniosacral, myofascial release, neurovascular manipulation, and sports massage. I also bill insurance, specifically Blue Cross Blue Shield, CHP/Kaiser, motor vehicle claims and workman compensation injury claims.
A little about myself, and my business and massage philosophy:
I grew up in Kodiak, Alaska, a rural city perched on the edge of a jagged island, jutting out of the ocean. The trees that I grew up with are all first growth Sitka spruce trees, with limbs so low they touch the ground. Sitka spruce trees are, simply, majestic. They are the third largest coniferous (evergreen) tree in the world; so the island is covered by giants, swaying in the Pacific storms. These trees are truly impressive, yet I have learned their roots are surprisingly shallow for their size. Spruce trees do not rely on their own strength; they are constantly looking for other anchors, such as rocks and other trees’ roots to hold on to.
In the same way spruce trees are freestanding, I don’t believe it is my job to “fix” someone. I do not heal someone’s body. Ultimately, their own body heals itself. I offer support, guidance, and can be an anchor for the roots to grab on to, but the tree stands by itself, not leaning on a support.
I believe people are stronger, more capable, and more beautiful than they realize, and I am passionate about using my practice to collaborate with my clients to reach their goals, and nurture a greater love and respect for their own bodies. I truly believe only you can change yourself, and only you can fully know yourself. All I can do is offer support, kindness, and an anchor to deepen and secure your own roots!
I enjoy watching, and supporting, as clients grow into the people they are meant to be!
