FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
No formal training, just many years (>20) of practice sewing, knitting, and crochet ting.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
My mom taught me to sew when I was in elementary school. By the time I graduated High School, we were collaborating to modify prom dress patterns so I could have just the right dress. Mom also taught me to knit and crochet. I have done a lot more crochet over the years including blankets, scarfs, winter weather headband/ ear warmer, and a water bottle holder.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
Most recent crochet project was the water bottle holder. It took me about 5 hours over several weeks. I am currently making a new pattern (fitted to me) to make a new shirt and doublet (medieval vest). The pattern has taken more than 3 hours so far since I keep trying it on and making adjustments. Once the pattern is complete it should take about 2 hours to cut out and sew the doublet together. The shirt will be much quicker since it is not a fitted shirt and just needs to fit okay under the doublet.
