Introduction: Dr. Cleo Leung is a doctoral graduate of the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music in Flute Performance with a cognate in Orchestral Studies. Dr. Leung began studying the flute in the fourth grade, and joined her first youth orchestra at the age of ten. Since then, she has served in many ensembles across the country, including the Dayton Philharmonic, the Owensboro Symphony, Orchestra Kentucky, the Banff Festival Orchestra, the CCM Philharmonic, the CCM Wind Orchestra, and the Harvard Radcliffe Orchestra, including playing in international tours to Australia and New Zealand (Peninsula Youth Orchestra), Spoleto, Italy (CCM Spoleto Festival), and South Korea (Harvard Radcliffe Orchestra). Since August 2015, Dr. Leung has served on the faculty of the University of Dayton, Dayton, OH, as the adjunct flute instructor and director of the flute ensemble, as well as a freelance pedagogue and performer in the Greater Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky area with students in elite area ensembles, including CSYO and CYWE. Teaching is a calling, and Dr. Leung truly believes that she can help any and every flutist achieve their goals in music, whatever they may be. She has experience ranging from successfully preparing high school students for college auditions and college students for graduate conservatory auditions, to starting young children from scratch on flute, and even assisting adult amateur students in continued pursuit of personal happiness with music. She truly believes in helping everyone develop a joy of playing, and an understanding of how to really achieve great sound and technical proficiency on the flute. Whatever you want from flute, she will do her utmost to help you get there.
