About this pro

How does your service stand out?

We provide musical entertainment for any type of venue and do studio recordings as well. NOTE: If you are looking for a band to play the "Electric Slide" for your event, we are NOT the right band or musicians for you. Just sayin'. :)

What do you enjoy about the work you do?

We are meeting new people and playing music! There's nothing better. Really, there's such a pleasure in playing music and putting smiles on folks' faces. It's nice to do well economically from it, but there's not a better line of work that we can think of doing that would be better than playing music. We all love it.

    Phenomenal violinist Neal
Wow I cannot believe I found Neal and feel so honored that he played at our wedding. His skills on the violin are exceptional and he blew our guests away. He listened to my every request and made me feel important and special. He was able to play every song I wanted without any issue. His knowledge is vast and he is a professional and wonderful person. I only wish I had been a guest sitting there listening and not straining to hear from my honeymoon cottage! Thank you, thank you, thank you Neal!

    Wonderful & Accommodating!
Couldn't have asked for a better ceremony/ cocktail hour musician for our wedding in Winter Park, FL. Neal was extremely accommodating and flexible with our music selection and the time frame we had to work with. Not to mention it was somewhat short notice, which was extremely appreciated as well. I would recommend Neal for your next event if you're looking for a talented and professional musician!

    Book 'em!
Quickdraw with Spayde Koolie played the main stage at a city event I partner with. Their performance was amazing! I ended up booking them for our company Christmas party. People still talk about how great they were. In addition I have recently booked them to open for Charlie Daniels. You should book them too!

A big E band! Entertainment/Enthusiasm at its best!
Have seen several performances of this band. My wife and I have really enjoyed the music. The band really meshed their enthusiasm with the audience to create a very entertaining evening.

Friendly, helpful, accomodating and highly talented violinist!
We really wanted a violinist for our wedding ceremony and couldn't have been happier with our choice. Neal is an absolute pleasure to deal with and he plays beautifully! He makes you feel comfortable every step of the way and will not disappoint you on your big day. I was so grateful for all of his advice leading up to our wedding and loved how friendly and accommodating he is. All of our guests were very impressed with his performance and we would not hesitate to recommend him! Thank you again for making our day extra special :)

Talented but not a dance band for 55 and older group.
The band was very talented but did not present dance music as requested. They tried hard to provide by playing music from an alternate source during breaks. They came ahead of the date and checked out the facility and were as pleasant as any entertainers we have had. They just weren't the right choice for a New Year's Eve dance.
    Neal P. Jan 19, 2017

I contest this review wholeheartedly as unfair and not just because it's our first less-than-5-star review. We definitely presented dance music, and A LOT, even the majority many times, of guests danced and often. Neal Phillips personally visited the locale two weeks before the event and spoke with Betty. She said to "keep it upbeat and keep it moving", and that's what we planned for. However, when we got there the night of the event, Betty and others requested "Electric Slide". I thought they were kidding at first, but they weren't! On the original ad/bid on Thumbtack for this event, the music desired was "Variety", and under specific song requests it said "Intentionally left blank". Spayed Koolie, the band for the event, is an excellent classic rock/country/classic country band, and the setlists were upbeat, but the band had never played "Electric Slide" before, nor would it have. The band ended up playing "Electric Slide" three times via digital file over the sound system. This review is totally unfair and implies the band was not prepared which couldn't be further from the truth. The other reality is that most of the guests came up and told us how fantastic we were, and we were able to accommodate a number of on-the-spot requests. We also had two guests tell us we were the best band they'd ever heard at the RV park. The band nor the company should have been blamed for not playing or knowing "Electric Slide". We never would have bid on the job to begin with had we known that was a requirement.

    HIRE HIM!!
Neal was OUTSTANDING!!! We hired him to do our pre-ceremony music and our guests absolutely loved him. I wasn't able to hear everything that he played, but our bridal party had a good laugh when we could hear the guests singing and clapping along to Neal as he played.
    Neal P. Jan 19, 2017

Jessica, you are so kind, and you looked lovely at the wedding. :) Your guests were all a lot of fun as well, especially the reaction when I teased them with the Game of Thrones theme! Too funny! Thank you for having me as part of your special day. :)

Spayed Kooley was the perfect choice for our party!! They were always in touch with any questions I had before the event, they were on time, and did a fantastic job. They are extremely talented, and our party wouldn't have been such a big hit without them. Excellent sound, fun, upbeat, easy to work with, and affordable! I would highly recommend them!!!!!! 👍👍

Neal is an incredibly talented musician. He is very professional but also very friendly. His beautiful violin music provided just the right musical environment for our wedding on 7/22/16. He arrived before the requested time, set up before the ceremony and was able to entertain our guests in the chapel with wonderful violin music in a mix of contemporary and classical songs as requested. He is WONDERFUL!
    Neal P. Jan 19, 2017

Leah, thank you so much. You made it very easy to work with the schedule, location -- everything. Your guests were fun as well. :)

Neal and his band recently played at our wedding. He did a great job communicating with us after a short notice hire! He was amazing during our ceremony on his violin, and really kept the beat going at our reception. All of our guests were raving about Neal and his crew.

Maria, you and Laura are so warm!! Thank you for having us at your awesome day!!! Garine, Jeremy, Ashlee, and the rest of us in the Raglan Ritcheys were thrilled to be a part of your wedding, and we had a lot of fun as well. All the best. :)

Neil played violin for my ceremony and cocktail hour. He was professional, reliable and very talented. He learned songs for us. He played electric violin, classic violin and fiddle. He brought his own amp and mic so that we could make announcements as well. Would highly recommend him!

We were getting married in the park. It got rained out, but Neal was so flexible and great, he came to the reception location and performed there instead. Fortunately for us, he was able to extend his stay. He did a great job interpreting my "vision" for the recessional. He also plays a great variety of music which was perfect for our eclectic group of invitees. He's super talented. I only wish I could have enjoyed his performance a little longer (thanks to the rain everything got cut a bit short, and as the bride, I only got to enjoy the processional and recessional. Thanks Neal!!
    Neal P. Jan 19, 2017

Jennifer, YOU were so flexible as well! :) Thank you for having me, and yeah, weather sometimes messes things up, but it was a wonderful wedding, and you were a gorgeous bride. --Neal

Q&A

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Pretty simple. Customer contacts me and tells us what is needed as far as music or entertainment, and we accommodate. EXCEPTION: We do not play the "Electric Slide", nor would we learn it. However, we'd be happy to play a recording of it for you at your event when the band is on a break or something similar. Call me or e-mail me if you'd like to know why.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a doctorate in Educational Leadership, so that helps on the business end. I have 10 years experience playing in the Altoona Symphony Orchestra, and I've played on four continents and had numerous solo, duo, trio, and band gigs throughout the past 20 years.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your service? If so, please share the details here.
Not really a standard pricing system. It all depends on travel costs, duration of the event, and what y'all need from us. We are flexible. :)
How did you get started doing this type of work?
Started playing the violin when I was six, and then I got into a professional symphony when I was 12, and I've been doing this as part-time, very enjoyable work ever since. :)
What types of customers have you worked with?
You name it! ALL kinds, trust me. We can work with anyone.
Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
We played a wedding, a four-piece band as Spayed Koolie, at the Bradenton Beach Country Club recently. We were there at 3pm to set up and got out around 11pm. Fond of this event because the wedding party was so much fun and loved the band. :) They even sent us a composite video that is fantastic.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Tell the entertainer exactly what you need, and guarantee the payment amount, preferrably in writing. Entertainers do a lot of work besides the actual performing in order to make an event wonderful. Just recognize that.
What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
Think about how much music you'll need for how long, and think about EVERYONE in your audience and what they might like.
