- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Each cake is priced individually, as each one requires different structure, technique, and skill, as well as different decorating elements.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
My typical process is that we connect and discuss design and serving needs. I usually send a quote by email and if the customer agrees, then we meet and go over the contract, of if they are farther away, I can email it to them. A minimum non refundable 50% is required at the time the contract is signed and that guarantees the customer's date. The remaining balance and any changes to the design or size of the cake is due two weeks before the event. When the cake is delivered, if it meets the customers expectations, the contract is signed once again, confirming that.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
I would just suggest that you have an idea of what you like and don't like, and express that to your decorator, but also have an open mind to what they say in regards to design.
