FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Lessons cost $40/hour. 30 minute lessons cost $20, and 45 minute lessons $30. Experts agree that weekly lessons are the best way to learn! Lesson times vary from student to student, depending on age and ability to focus. Adults generally take one hour lessons, although not always, and some choose to take lessons only every other week, depending on the time they are able to practice at home. Young children often only have the attention span for 30 minute lessons, "tweens" are usually best suited for 45 minute lessons, and many high school students have the capacity and interest for 60 minute lessons.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to do an initial 30 minute interview/trial lesson, free of charge, which will take place in my home violin studio. During this time, we chat about instrument requirements, what type of music (classical, bluegrass, etc.) the student is interested in learning (or what their parent wants them to focus on), and expectations for practicing at home, cancellations, etc.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have 4 years of formal, University level training in the classical violin. I have also attended a number of workshops in various styles of music. I continue to learn every day through practice, gigging through Colorado, and from my students themselves!
