As your editor, I work closely with you to ensure your copy is readable, intelligent, and conveying the message it intends to. I also pay attention to aspects such as voice, style, structure, and flow.
I enjoy working with a diverse client base, and approaching each project on its own terms. Each writer has their own voice, style, flow, and view of the world, and I love working to strengthen those characteristics. I love seeing my clients gain confidence in their writing skills, and one of my favorite parts of working with long-term clients is watching their writing grow into itself.

I was drawn to ask Sara to edit my work because: (1) I liked the journal she ran and (2) I enjoy reading her own work. Initially, she edited two pieces for me and told me to go back to the drawing boards. I knew how to write “in scene” before I became a professional researcher. Years passed and I wanted to learn how to write creative nonfiction. My style tended to be more journalistic. Sara helped motivate me to get more consistently “in scene.” On those first two pieces, she could've done a simple line edit but, instead, she persuaded me that I needed to change wavelengths to explore the greater potential in both pieces. It took a while before I was ready to listen. When I asked her to review my next drafts and go another round, she willingly did, said I was nearly there, and asked questions and performed line edits that made them even better. Subsequently, she took on two more pieces, and helped make them even better, again by asking me questions that enabled me to see what work I still needed to do. With her assist, two of the four pieces have been published. More recently, she’s edited a dozen other pieces ranging from micro to full-length creative nonfiction. This has really gotten me over the hump in having the confidence to persist. Sara's smart, knows something about nearly everything, sensitive, knows her stuff, isn't afraid to say what needs to be said, and builds capabilities. I enjoy working with her and hope that, as demands on her time for editing and writing increase, she still has time for me.
