FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Industry standard for freelance copy editing is $20 per hour. How much editing I can do in an hour is greatly dependent on the type of editing (simple proofing vs. substantive content editing) and the skill of the original author. Writing projects are priced on a per-case basis, as they vary widely in scope and depth.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Upon acceptance of a quote, the following process occurs: 1) phone call or email (your choice) to discuss the project's specific needs and timeline. 2) initial draft copy provided within the agreed-upon time frame. 3) 24 hours for your review. 4) phone call or email to discuss suggested changes and final timeframe. 5) final product delivered excellently and on time. 6) invoicing and payment.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I'm Jay Adams, the founder. I have 16 years experience as an educator in English, chemistry, physics, and journalism. I've also spent 6 years managing a school of 230 students. In that capacity, I was responsible for all PR aspects of school communication, including document production.
