FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I work in blocks of 1.5 hours or 2 hours. When necessary, I will go over the allotted time to help a student who is challenged with either a project, quiz or test.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
The initial sessions both double as helping the student with current work while accessing their challenges with the objectives of the parent and student. Most every student I work with has to "go backward" before we can go forward. This means that once I understand where the student's weakness is, I can begin the process of teaching the necessary subjects to help build confidence and a strong academic foundation.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been tutoring and teaching for three years. Ultimately, what makes me unique is my performance and educational backgrounds. From my years as an elementary school student, my favorite day of the week was Monday--because I could go to school. I loved learning, my classes and teachers along with all of the many activities I was involved with. My first acting class was at six and I became a professional by the age of eleven. I was able to express my talent professionally after years of study and technique-I learned to be a disciplined student. It afforded me a bigger view of my own accomplishments and future. I share this bigger vision with my students. I studied classical and operatic voice at a top music school before receiving an academic degree in international relations with a minor in economics. I love stories. There are stories in every academic discipline including/especially in math and science. We savor the stories in the work I do with my students both individually and together in my Reading Circle.
