FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Our practice is *Out of Network* meaning that we do not take insurance. Most of my clients have good luck with reimbursement from their plans and all can access receipts for their therapy at any time thanks to the software package that we use to also confirm and remind them of their appointments. If you require a therapist who takes a specific insurance, it may be a challenge to find someone. Your best first call is your insurance company.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Therapy is super rewarding, but it is not typically a quick process. At minimum, I recommend clients be ready to commit to 6 weekly sessions to "build momentum" to gain insight about the situation that brought them to therapy and effect change. Clients seeing the most success are prepared come for 10-12 sessions or more. There are no guarantees in therapy, so much depends on the energy clients put into the entire process, including "homework" they give themselves between sessions. But when it "works" clients are empowered not only around the issue that initially challenged them but have tackled additional goals as well. A very important part of how I work is making sure the client feels in control of the process. We meet their schedule needs, clients choose our topics of discussion and their goals are focused on.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am extremely fortunate to be a Resident-in-Counseling, supervised by Amy Clay, LPC. Additionally, I am a trained Support Group Leader at Inova Fair Oaks Hospital and "Mom-on-Call" in Northern Virginia for Postpartum Support Virginia. I also had the opportunity to receive graduate training at Kolmac Outpatient Recovery Center on K St, NW in Washington, DC, a leading Intensive Outpatient (IOP) for addiction treatment, enabling me to support the family and friends of those in recovery as well as continuing care for individuals who are returning from Inpatient or attending IOP's.
