FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I am a very small business with very low overhead. My office is in my home and I drive a ten year old vehicle so I am not asking my customers to pay to pamper me. I have been asked by customers why I can do a particular job for half of what the bigger companies charge. I always provide a fixed fee which will never increase for your project. If it takes me twice as long to do the job as originally expected I do not ask for more money and you still get the service I promised for the fee I quoted. I do ask for deposits in the amount of 50% of our agreed price. The deposits are made through PayPal via a credit card or bank card. I send an invoice from Paypal to you via email. That email links to my PayPal portal where you can make the deposit. I ask for the deposit to cover my immediate expenses...labor, fuel, research, and materials. I don't ask for the balance until I have finished the job and provided you with a PDF of the survey work done.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I try to get as much information from the customer as I need to provide them with the service I think they need. Sometimes a customer may think they need 3 times as much as they actually need. Land Surveying is very mysterious to many people and it is my job to pull back the veil of secrecy about land surveying. Sometimes customers would like to observe us doing the work and may even have questions. I always tell them to come along. The more they understand about what I am doing the more prepared they re to move forward with the rest of their project.
