Introduction: For over 25-years, I've been working with K-12, college and university students, teaching and mentoring in languages and the physical sciences (eg., Physics, Mathematics and Astronomy). I have traveled all over the world building telescopes and doing astronomy research, and have learned to communicate with people from many different backgrounds, which has taught me patience, perseverance and cultural awareness. During my travels, and living in many countries around the world, I have become fluent in French (social, professional) and Spanish (professional) and have taught children and young adults in both languages. During 2004-2008, I was Director and presenter of a mobile astronomy planetarium in Tennessee, and welcomed over 18000 kids into nearly 700-shows during that time. An rich, exhilarating and exhausting adventure. I love passing on what I have learned, and seeing the advances a student makes when they have confidence in themselves, to learn, to improve and to make a mistake without feeling bad or guilty. I find these the most rewarding aspects of tutoring actually.

Working with David James has been excellent. He ensures to provide the best learning experience and goes out of his way to make sure the concepts are understandable by explaining them multiple ways until my daughter is confident with the topic. He is kind, patient, and organized, and is creating a perfect learning environment. Her grades have significantly improved since we have started tutoring and he always works around our schedule and responds right away. Not enough nice things can be said about him and I greatly appreciate his help and hard work!

Dr James is a great teacher! He is very passionate about what he does and is extremely knowledgeable. He was my undergraduate astrophysics professor and I assist him with stellar evolution research. I highly recommend him for teaching/tutoring as he keeps your attention, makes complex subjects awesome to learn, teaches neat French phrases and what not to say because it actually means something else, and is quick to respond to questions.

Our experience with Dr. James has been excellent. Our kids have always enjoyed learning from him, especially astronomy. His style is very relaxed and his goal is always that the students achieve a solid understanding of the topic. What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a PhD in astrophysics, with 19-years professional experience as a researcher, professor and now project manager at Harvard. For my French studies, I have lived and taught in France and Switzerland, and even now, talk exclusively in French at home with my four young children (9, 7, 5 & 3 years old).
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have been teaching students (both professionally and privately) from K-12 through to college and universities for about 25 years now, in Physics, Mathematics, Astronomy, and French.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Apart from own children, I have taught children as young as 4-yrs old in French, including reading and writing. In Mathematics and the physical sciences, I've worked with K-12 students, as well as taught professionally at several universities in the UK, France and the US.
