Introduction: Owner and Lead Photographer Chris Holmes combines technical expertise, an artist's eye and incredible passion to create award-quality work for all of his clients. Because of this he has been the recipient of numerous awards for his work including two-time winner of Military Photographer of the Year, Barry Edmonds Michigan Understand Award and many others. Chris has very unique and varied photography experience including nine years as a military photographer and photojournalist covering stories in the United States, Europe, New Zealand, Cuba and Antarctica. After military service he worked as a staff and chief photographer for the Lansing State Journal for 18 years. While in the Navy Chris also worked weekends photographing portraits and weddings for a local studio in Ventura, Ca.
Volunteer work is very important to Chris as well and he covers events (free of charge) for local and state Special Olympics events, Brides Against Breast Cancer and others.
Photography is truly my passion as well as my profession. I know how fortunate I am to do what I love and earn the appreciation of my clients for that work. Over the years I have photographed subjects from presidents (Reagan, the Bushs and Clintons) to newborn babies, families, soldiers, sailors and marines. I've been blessed to cover professional sports and cover firefighters, police officers and every imaginable profession during very human moments. And then there are the hundreds of wedding couples and their family and friends during the happiest days of their lives. Yes I am the one who is blessed to be invited into people's lives (or events) and create art out of life's events.
The key to getting images in all of these instances is having a true curiosity about life and empathy for subjects that allows me to see and capture photos that people want to look at and have an emotional reaction when they do.
