FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge $125/hour. Closet edits: 2 hours + look book = $325 3 hour closet edit, no look book: $350 I charge for travel time if outside 75 miles of Marin County. Travel time is also charged for personal shopping.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
The closet edit is the place to start! It's shopping in your closet, and getting a whole new wardrobe without spending a dime on new clothes. We'll cull the treasures, determine what to toss/donate/consign; and with what's left, build new looks for all of your life's occasions and needs. Through this fun process, we'll determine what pieces are missing from your "core closet;" and I'll help you identify and find the pieces that flatter both your figure and budget, to give your existing wardrobe more versatility. In the end, we'll create "go to" looks, which I will compile into a look book, so that you will always have great style at your fingertips! It effectively banishes the "I don't know what to wear" query! Your closet will be organized and you will feel like you've just had a shopping spree, without having left your own closet!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Personally, I have worked as a stylist my entire life! Even having worn a uniform during my formidable years, I was obsessed with fashion and finding unique ways to play with accessories to create a look that felt authentic and distinguished myself. Friends and family routinely called on me for help - what shoes should I wear with this dress? Please help me find an outfit for x or y event! Is this still in style? -- are but a few of the inquiries I would get on almost a daily basis. So after putting my husband through grad school and raising my family, I traded dispensing legal advice for fashion advice - and Best Foot Forward was born! I have taken many styling and image courses that reinforced what I've learned over the last 30 years -- and am currently working towards my certification in Fashion and Image Styling through the Fashion Styling Institute. The best training, however, is working with men and women over the last 30 years -- professionally and personally --in helping them dress for their bodies and their lives, leaving them looking and feeling like their most authentic and best selves.
