- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I do have a standard pricing system. I provide "elopement" services in my office in Grinnell by appointment for $100. The rest of my officiant services run between $200 and $400 depending on the date, location, and scope of the ceremony. I charge an additional fee for attending the wedding rehearsal. That is typically $100.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to obtain preliminary information regarding wedding venue, date, and size of the wedding. If I am available on the requested date, I can provide a quote which will vary based on the location, day of the week (I charge less for weekday weddings), and scope of the ceremony. I explain the payment process and offer a contract for my clients. I visit with the couple by phone or in person so that we can create a personalized ceremony that is special. I am always available to answer questions and provide suggestions.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BA in English and a JD in Law. I am a licensed attorney and I practice part-time from my office in Grinnell, Iowa. I served a 4 year term as the magistrate for Poweshiek County Iowa and that is when I started officiating weddings for the court. I enjoy weddings so much that I later became an ordained minister. I have officiated approximately 100 weddings so far.
