FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
We usually charge 40-50 per man per hour. We often have the two of us come together for gigs - we can get twice as much done (or more!) in the same amount of time.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
1) Write a response and loose bid based on the available info. 2) Discuss schedule and specifics if they respond. 3) Adjust bid, if necessary. Communicate with client. 4) Do research on the project and gather any required materials and/or tools. 5) Arrive at worksite on schedule. 6) Preform task as outlined. Communicate and unforeseen issues that may affect cost or schedule, then get client approval, before they impact our progress. 7) Finish the job to client satisfaction. 8) Invoice client and collect payment. We always like cash, but will accept PayPal, Venmo and Square (this includes Visa, MasterCard and Amex. 9) Be responsive to any followup or required maintenance needed, per client feedback, on the given project.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
We started out as free-lance workers in production, set design and grip and electrical in Bay Area filmmaking. I also recently got my MFA degree in the graduate program at SFAI in sculpture and technology. My partner has been a building/tech/DYI hobbyist since his early teens.
