Introduction: Doing what you love could not be truer for New Jersey native, and bassist Frankie P. Being involved in music since he was 3 years old, Frankie fell in love with the bass at the age of 13 and never looked back. He is an accomplished teacher who worked in the education system for 9 years as an orchestra teacher before ultimately leaving to pursue and be the artist he has always dreamed of. Energetic, captivating, and a natural performer, are just a few of the many words to describe Frankie’s personality and his bass playing. One of the most significant aspects of his bass playing and writing is that every note, riff, and sound is catered to the most important thing…the song. One of his many bass idols is John Deacon of Queen, and his ability to know what to play, when to play, and the underrated intricacies of his parts are what Frankie models after. Apart from being a bassist, he is also a full time producer, songwriter, and mix engineer. Bass isn't the only instrument he plays. He plays a total of 11 instruments from strings, to brass, woodwind and percussion. Having started in a classic rock style, Frankie has played with artists spanning from Rock, Country, Hip-Hop, Jazz, Pop, and many others. His career has ultimately led him to Country and Pop, but the experience of his vast styles has helped him become the player he is today on the stage, and in the studio. No stage is too big or too small for Frankie, because in any show, band, or behind the scenes work, he gives his all. This is very evident from the acts he plays with including his original band Morningside Lane, who has had success on the east coast and internationally, and the very talented, Jessica Rose. “I’m honored to share the stage with Frankie P. Frankie has an incredible gift to share knowledge. His expertise on the upright bass, and guitar was invaluable. My nephew gained a much greater appreciation for these instruments as a musician. Frankie also stressed the importance of commitment to practice and learning to listen to other musicians. His work ethic is excellent and his commitment to teaching others is commendable. Frankie projects happiness and joy into his teaching. He enjoys sharing his experiences as well as revels in the joy of his students accomplishments. I only wish we had found him sooner! What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated from Rowan University in Jazz Music Education, majoring in both upright and electric bass. I then graduated with my masters degree in Entertainment Business from Full Sail University in 2015. I am K-12 certified and would love to help begin or continue any up and coming or seasoned musicians career.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I always knew I wanted to run my own business. I have been doing sound engineering for over 10 years and have had over 5 years of studying to become a music educator. I want to be able to use all of the skills I have obtained and not only further them, but pass them on to students and use my skills in the industry to help clients make great music.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I have worked with students of all ages, from Kindergarten to adult. It is never too late to be involved in music! In terms of audio engineering, I have worked with solo artists, bands, duo groups, and more. My skills in the audio world are in mixing, where I basically take pre recorded tracks and get them to sound radio-ready.
