FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Every wedding is unique, so every package will vary depending on the number of hours, number of photographers (we have second shooters, videographers and photobooth assistants), if an album/separate engagement session is included, etc. What does come standard with every package is the right to reproduce the high resolution, fully retouched images you receive. They are your wedding photographs - you should have the rights to all of them! I also carefully retouch every image that's returned to the clients. I remove wrinkles, blemishes, dark circles, exit signs, "photobombers" and can even open eyes that are blinking and extensive editing where requested.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Typically, customers inquire via phone or email to find out if I have their wedding date open. I offer a complimentary engagement session so they can test out my style and service. Here's how it works. We'll find a time that's convenient for you and your fiance to meet with me for about an hour to an hour and a half. We'll spend about 30 minutes capturing engagement photographs, which will give you a chance to see my personality and shooting style. Then we'll sit down and review the samples and answer all your questions. About two weeks after the shoot, I'll post the photographs at an online gallery and share the URL with you. Once you've had a chance to see the images and think it over, if you want to book a wedding package, you'll also receive a USB with all the images. If we aren't a match, the online gallery stays posted for six months and there's no charge to you. We can also schedule just a meeting (in-person, on the phone or over skype) for now, if you prefer. This method of "test driving" photography styles has worked really well for me because couples that go through to booking are very comfortable working with me. They are booking me based on loving their own photographs, not just some samples of couples they don't know. Once they are happy with the engagement session, we sign contracts and take a deposit to secure the date. Site visits and additional meetings can also be conducted in advance of the wedding.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've earned a bachelor of fine arts degree in studio art and photography from the University of Notre Dame and masters of fine arts degree in photography from Rochester Institute of Technology. I'm also a member of the Professional Photographers of America.
