- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
My best advice for a customer is to hire someone that they feel comfortable with & they can trust. Unfortunately, in this line of work there are a lot of fly by night contractors/handymen that want money up front and then you never hear from them again. the only time i ask for money before completion is for the cost of materials, which i usually fill the shopping cart online at home depot or lowes & then share it with the customer to pay it & then i either pick them up or have them delivered to the job site.
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
Customers should think about & list the most important factors for their project. for example: is the most important thing that they get the lowest price on labor? if so, they need to take into consideration that the job may take longer to finish due to the handy man working alone instead of with 2-4 other workers due to not charging enough to hire help. if time of competition is the most important factor, be prepared to pay a higher price due to paying additional contractors to help expedite the process.
