Introduction: My name is Tanner Guss and I have studied drumset since the 2nd grade. I am currently studying drumset performance, under legendary drumset educator Steve Houghton, at the prestigious Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University (recently voted the top music school in the country). I have performed with many renowned artists including members of Neon Trees, Earth Wind and Fire, Tower of Power, The Blues Brothers, and many more. I offer summer drumset lessons from May 9 - the first few weeks of Aug. My goal as a teacher is to make learning to make music as exciting and rewarding as possible. My lessons are all about learning to practice the drumset musically and creatively, with a focus on making music with other musicians as much as possible. I am comfortable teaching students at all levels and gear my lessons towards the musical goals and interests of each individual. Beginning students will be jamming along to classic records within the first few weeks of lessons! More advanced students will spend time immersing themselves in the nuances of their favorite styles and players and honing their personal sound. I offer weekly lessons and I'm very flexible with my schedule. $20 for a 30 min lesson. I guarantee you won't find another teacher with the same level of experience and dedication who offers rates as low as mine! If you have any questions please don't hesitate to give me a call! Thank you for taking the time to consider my services and I look forward to the opportunity of working with you or someone you know in the future!
Music is my passion. Nothing is more exciting than creating music with other people, and I love being able to share that excitement with my students. I enjoy playing and teaching all styles of music. Each style is a new challenge to understand and master, and it's always amazing to see the moment when it clicks in a student's head and they understand how to play that style correctly. What I like most is the opportunity to learn from all of my students. Through teaching I am able to better understand the music myself, and I learn something new in every lesson.
