Introduction: The best part of my job teaching guitar is seeing my students use what I teach them to have fun making music on their own. I use my years of experience in original touring hard rock bands to draw on when teaching lessons that cater to what the student is interested in and give them the tools they will need to make music for a lifetime. I am a full-time teacher providing guitar lessons in your home or online! I can teach electric and acoustic guitar. There are no contracts. You only pay for lessons you take. Larry has been our family’s guitar instructor for over 12 years. Larry started w my son, Ely, when Ely was 7 years old. Today Ely is in the Honors music program at Appalachian State, has been in multiple local bands, recorded multiple albums and EP’s and won the “30 seconds to shred” competition at Carolina Rebellion’s 3-day metal fest. Ely’s younger brother Jackson, followed in Ely’s footsteps and has also been taking lessons for over 10 years. Jackson is equally as accomplished as his brother and is now mixing/editing his own tracks and playing all instruments. My older daughter also took lessons for many years w Larry and she now plays guitar, piano and went to NC School of the Arts and UNC Chapel Hill for voice/opera. So I know I am bragging on my kids but it is all because of Larry and his dedication to teaching guitar and music. Larry is patient, relatable to kids of any age and open to all types of music. He is a trusted mentor to my kids and has helped w instrument selection, instrument repair, and is really the “total package” if you want a great experience learning the guitar. I highly recommend anyone that is considering music lessons to give Larry a try. He will be the last teacher you will ever hire to learn the guitar.

My son Gabe received his first guitar for his 7th birthday. After seeing several recommendations for Larry, I reached out to see if he'd work with a young student. They started playing really cool music right away, which really helped Gabe enjoy playing and encouraged him to practice regularly. When we were ready to upgrade to an electric guitar the following Christmas, Larry went out of his way to not only recommend a guitar, but help set us up with a package that included everything we'd need to go with it. We are coming up on my son's 10th birthday, and we've been so happy with Larry all this time. It's amazing to hear Gabe play- he has come a long way, and really enjoys the instrument! We love Larry's flexibility with lessons, appreciated his pivot to online lessons when the pandemic hit, and especially love how he interacts with our son as just another musician, and doesn't treat him like a baby. Gabe looks forward to lessons so that he and Mr. Larry can jam. Highly recommend LCB Guitar!

Prior to working with Larry, our son had taken guitar from another teacher for over a year and, frankly, did not enjoy it. He viewed it as a chore and a grind. From the very first lesson with Larry, his attitude flipped 180 degrees. He loves lessons now. In addition to having great musicality, Larry really tries to understand what our son loves playing and uses that to motivate. He quickly taught real guitar notation to simplify getting to the point of actually playing songs and is always enthusiastic about discussing technique. I even like listening to the lessons. When CoViD hit, we were concerned about how lessons would go and if our son would become disengaged. After many months, he is still loving it and has affirmed that Larry’s remote lessons are just as fun. I can wholeheartedly recommend getting lessons from LCB Guitar Lessons.

Larry provided guitar lessons for our 15 year old daughter who wanted to graduate from YouTube instruction to in-person instruction. Larry was a perfect fit, was a great teacher, and she still enjoys guitar to this day.

FAQs

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
No contracts required. You only pay for lessons that you take. Most students take one half hour lesson at the same time once a week. Lessons are given in your home. Canceling is always allowed and I am flexible with scheduling.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I've worked with young children and beginners all the way to more advanced guitarists that are interested in specific aspects of my own personal style.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Always keep a list of current favorite songs. Take note of guitarists you admire. Having something to relate what you are learning on your guitar to is very important. Context is everything!
