Introduction: The Poerschke Law Firm represents clients in criminal cases in Harris County. Attorneys Chris Ainsworth and Scott Poerschke were trained in criminal defense practice by current Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg. We strive to minimize the impact of criminal accusations on our clients' lives. In criminal defense, we put our skills to work to make a real difference in our clients' lives. We advocate for relief when conditions of pre-trial release become oppressive. We help our clients protect their reputations and their careers by seeking outcomes that do not result in a criminal history. And we protect the constitutional rights of our clients and the public at large by holding law enforcement to the standards enshrined in the Bill of Rights.

Attorney Ainsworth truly went above and beyond. He was everything you could want and need in an attorney. He was always prompt in his responses. He was genuine and easy to talk to. He made sure to fully explain things. He is very thorough, detailed, and unbelievably organized. He worked very diligently, and he was incredibly knowledgeable. He was both respectful and assertive with prosecutors and the judge. When Chris says he'll do something, he does everything he promised and more. I'll be forever grateful for all the firm's hard work.

FAQs

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

We evaluate prospective clients' cases with the client in a one-hour consultation. We charge $250 for a consultation. During the consultation, we review the evidence with the client and the legal issues involved. We then develop a game plan for moving forward and determine the fee schedule for the case based on the complexity of the facts and legal issues.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I am licensed to practice in all courts of the State of Texas and the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas. I have a Juris Doctor degree from The University of Texas School of Law. While in law school, I was an intern at the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals and the Harris County District Attorney's Office. I also was a teaching assistant in criminal law and worked part time at the Travis County Attorney's Office. After graduating from law school, I continued to work at the Travis County Attorney's Office for a year before starting my solo practice in Austin, Texas. In 2014, I moved to Houston and began an apprenticeship with Kim Ogg at The Ogg Law Firm.

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

Houston is an incredibly diverse city, and our clients reflect that diversity. Some have grandchildren, others are still in school. Some live inside the loop, others live in the suburbs. Some come to court wearing a suit, others in jeans and a t-shirt. We've even represented corporations charged with crimes. The one thing our clients have in common is that they have an issue that requires the care and attention of a dedicated professional.
