FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
No tax problem is the same; no accounting situation is the same. Therefore, fees will vary from problem to problem. Fees can be by the hour or by the project, depending on the scope, depth and magnitude of the problem or situation. However, all initial consultations are free. At the conclusion of the initial consultation, clients will exactly know what steps must be taken to resolve their particular situation and what that cost will be.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
A free initial consultation in my office is preferred, but this can be done over the phone. After a lengthy interview, I will detail step by step the next moves for the client. At the conclusion of the interview, the client will have the information to make a qualified decision to engage me to solve their problem, engage someone else to solve their problem, or to tackle their problem on their own.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
An Enrolled Agent is a federally-licensed tax practitioner, required to take 72 hours of continuing education every three years. This education must meet strict IRS guidelines and must be in the areas of Federal Tax, Federal Tax Update and a minimum of two hours per year in Ethics. I am also a member of the National Association of Enrolled Agents. To maintain my membership, I am required to take 30 hours of continuing education every year. As a personal preference, I regularly takes over 60 hours of continuing education, primarily concentrating on audits, appeals, protests, collections and bankruptcies. In addition to my federal tax license, I have a two-year accounting degree and have taught accounting and corporate finance courses in college as an adjust professor. As a matter of necessity, I have been a QuickBooks ProAdvisor off and on since 1999. I also received my Oracle Financials Certification in 2000.
