What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to get as much information as possible about a new student , including their musical background and training, skill level, and specific goals they would like to accomplish in taking lessons. Our first session will always focus on these areas. Once I have the information I need, I will then create a specific lesson plan to match the individual student's needs and goals.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor's Degree and a Master's Degree in music.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I started playing professionally as a teenager, playing blues, boogie-woogie, New Orleans music, jazz, and classical in public venues such as coffee shops, restaurants, and bars. I began to develop a love for teaching while in graduate school, getting many opportunities to work with students individually and in the classroom setting.
