Introduction: Since I am new to Thumbtack, I'm sure you would like to know more about me. I have been doing Handyman work and building custom furniture and both wood and metal crafts for over 20 years, only I was doing it on my days off, vacation time and at night, while still working my "day" job. I have been doing that here in Florida since 2000 and back in NJ for years and years before that. I was offered and took advantage of a early retirement buy out and decided to do what I loved and was really good at. So that is why I am new to Thumbtack, now that I am no longer saying "get your id out and your shoes off" I can devote all of my time to what I have been doing all along. I'm the kind of person who also has to have a project, how lucky am I that I get to do that at work every day! Taking pieces of either wood or metal and creating something that is not only beautiful but functional gives me great joy and knowing the client loves it makes me proud. Helping people manage the jobs that they cannot complete themselves. Everyone has that to do list, those jobs around the house that have to get done no matter what your schedule looks like. Everyone also has that list of things that they would love to see at their home, even if it's just a new ceiling fan. It gives me not only joy but a sense of pride at the end of the day to know that in a small way I helped someone make their home a better, or safer place. I also love creating furniture or house number plaques or custom items, that clients are proud to show off to their friends.
