Introduction: I am a Berklee College of Music graduate who has 6 years of experience teaching guitar in New York City. I specialize in musical growth through song study and developing a teaching repertoire based around an individual student's favorite music. I am also able to teach songwriting and work with everyone from absolute beginners and kids to intermediate players and adults who would like to shake up their routine and take their skills beyond simple chord changes and rhythm guitar playing. I love working with both kids and adults and sharing my love of music, watching people grow and understand their instrument in new ways. In an industry that is traditionally dominated by male players I particularly love teaching girls that they too can rock! I believe that when we grow as musicians we also gain confidence focus, self discipline and many other important life skills.

Cariad taught my eldest guitar for several years - she kept her engaged with music she loved but installed in her the proper techniques. The music teachers at her school were so impressed that they began to use Cariad as their go to guitar teacher. Cariad also had the patient of a saint with my younger daughter who couldn't decide if she wanted to play the piano or ukulele. She just worked with her on either instrument - making sure she had fundamentals and loved music. We miss Cariad very much -- we've not been able to replicate the experience.

Cariad is a superb teacher!! I can't recommend her highly enough! She taught guitar to my 10 year old daughter, Belle, for 4 years in NYC - developing her love of guitar and her skill level at an exciting pace! She always found contemporary music Belle loved, to motivate her to want to practice and improve. Cariad is also a lovely, warm, trustworthy person, who is a delight to have in one's home and in your child's life!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Rates for my home studio in Madison TN Adult Lessons are $40 and 45 minutes long. Kids lessons are $30 and 30 minutes long. Travel rates are reasonable and vary depending on distance.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I begin with a phone call to insure that I am the right teacher for a new student. I try to assess their skill level, find out if they have any experience, figure out if they have any specific goals in mind. If possible I will arrive at the first lesson with a personalized lesson plan so that we can leave everyone feeling accomplished right at the beginning of their musical experience.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I studied at Berklee College of Music for 3 years and have been a professional songwriter and musician for the past 10. I lived in New york for many years and taught both privately and out of New York City Guitar School where I worked for 6 years.
