Luis Armacanqui
Introduction
Luis Armacanqui is a Latin Dance instructor specializing in Salsa and Bachata social dance instruction. Luis' teaching style goes beyond just showing some steps--in fun and educational environments of varying levels, students will learn about the music, culture, and essence of these popular dance forms to better understand how to truly feel and enjoy them with any dance partner.
Aside from teaching at various spots in the Madison area, Luis also puts together events to provide safe and enjoyable avenues to dance and make new friendships. Currently, Luis is available to teach in the following settings: private/1-on-1 instruction; group instruction; corporate & team-building events; dance parties; and educational workshops for all ages.
Luis has over 7 years of dance experience, which includes travels around the world to train, teach, social dance, perform (Salsa & Bachata music), document (photography & videography), and get inspiration for ways to build the Latin dance community in Madison!

Luis is an amazing dancer, and better yet, a spectacular instructor.
He comes prepared with a progression of dance moves and teaches them all with clarity and confidence.
His pacing is just right - you learn it slowly enough to feel comfortable with the steps but not too slowly that you lose interest in the lesson. If there is a move or step that I'm not getting quite right, he patiently breaks it down and directly works with me on it.
He provides other useful tips during the lessons such as variations of the same move, how to make the moves feel more natural, and body awareness.
He is inclusive, considerate, and a lot of fun. All in all, I'm always excited to learn more from him and really appreciate the space he creates during his lessons.

Luis puts a lot of effort into his latin dance classes. He plans out choreo that is appropriate for each level and makes adjustments if needed. He also reaches out to make sure that everyone is getting the steps down.
He integrates musicality and rhythm into even the most basic dance lessons. Usually it's about a particular melody or drum beat that allows for a certain expression of movement. It's a nice addition to the basic steps that makes your dancing a little more organic.
He's also extremely detail-oriented, so he provides plenty of hints for leading and following that make it easier. Things such as hand positions, where your weight is, etc.
Overall he's a class act and I would not hesitate to recommend him as an instructor.

Luis is an excellent Latin Dance instructor and a very good person. He’s passionate about what he does and that shines through in his work. I appreciate that he has a sense of humor but always keeps his students on task, as well. His way of breaking down techniques and sequences makes them manageable. He seems to have a knack for picking up on individual struggles or frustrations and tending to these things and sorting them out so the rest of the movements don’t get you lost. It’s fun because you’ll watch a movement sequence at the beginning of class and think “there’s no way I can learn all that!” and by the end of the class, you’re doing “all that” and didn’t even realize it!

Me and my girlfriend have attended dance lessons with Luis for about a year. What a great teacher! He is very professional, but also friendly and polite. Every lesson we learn a new lesson or technique, or improve on an old one. We plan to continue dance lessons with him going forward.
