FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
THE INTRODUCTORY LESSON IS ALWAYS $10. After that, the client can decide where to continue the lessons and whether to continue private, semi-private, group, or a combination of lessons. Private Instruction: A private Pilates lesson (one person) costs $60 in the studio (Integrative Healing and Wellness, 523 Main Ave., Bay Head, NJ) and $100 at the client's home, for up to four people! It's fun and easy to stay motivated when you get a few friends to work out together, too. Also, packages are available for private and semi-private lessons. Ongoing group Pilates classes are also available at the studio, $15 in advance and $17 at the door. For best results, Pilates should be done at least 2-3 times a week but even once a week will bring improvement. Clients often find a combination of group and private lesson beneficial. (SPECIAL FOR SUMMER! Beach Pilates is a perfect way to liven up your workout routine, because performing the precise, controlled movements of Pilates in surf and sand is as easy as deep frying a snowball. {That's just my way of saying it's challenging in a fun way.} Look for it again next season. It really was more fun than a barrel of deep fried snowballs!)
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I ask what experience, if any, the person has with Pilates; what other activities the person usually does for work and for fun; what fitness goals the person has; and whether the person has any injuries or pain. I always discuss and demonstrate basic Pilates principles with new clients regardless of their experience. For inexperienced clients I take more time for this part of the lesson. New clients fill out a contact form and waiver. I recommend doing Pilates at least twice a week. A combination of classes and private lessons can be very beneficial.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have certification in Pilates Reformer 1 and Movement Principles from Balanced Body, a leader in Pilates education. I have been practicing Pilates for over 12 years.
