FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I don't have a standard pricing system, however I have a starting point. My quotes are dependent on the breed, size, condition of the coat, and the location of the groom. I offer an affordable grooming experience for your pup where they receive 1-on-1 attention which lowers their anxiety, rather than them nervously sitting in a cage all day waiting for their turn to be groomed.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Whether a new client calls, texts, sends a message through the website or Facebook, or accepts a quote from Thumbtack, the process is usually the same. I will contact the customer by the means they contacted me (unless they ask otherwise) & I gather as much information as I can in order to give an accurate quote for service. I want to know as much about their pup as possible (medical issues, how long since their last groom, has their been issues in the past with grooming?). I talk to the client about what their expectations, especially if they have been unsuccessful in finding a good grooming experience for their pet. Once the client decides to book an appointment, I gather information such as a good contact number & the address the groom will take place.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I went to & excelled in grooming school that included 9 separate courses before I ever laid hands on a dog. The first course was anatomy of the dog. It is important to know the structure of the pup you are working on, not just from a grooming pattern perspective, but also should I see something alarming that needs to be brought to the owner's attention for vet care. I learned about the different breeds & which of the 7 groups they belong to, if they are pedigree dogs. I learned about the types of coats/fur/hair & their functions for that breed & how to care for it. I also took a course in Pet First Aid. While my number one goal is the safety of every animal in my care, I am trained & prepared should the pup have a medical issue or an accident occur. After excelling in the course work, I went on to do an internship at a very successful & busy groom shop in Nashville. The groomer who trained me is one of the best in Nashville. There I learned hands on training on an array of breeds, from Pugs, to Shih Tzus, to a Newfoundland! It was there that I realized my love for shear work & have spent the last couple of years really crafting that skill!
