Hi, I'm Chief's mom, Shelly, I have a 3 year old male GSD. He was 1 y/o when I chose to do training with him after someone broke into my house. A friend of mine paid for some training for us at PetCo. I didn't like the treats idea, because the dog is supposed to work for you and not for treats. And that wasn't the type of training that my particular dog needed. I did some price comparisons. Put it like this "Good work isn't cheap!" I was in Decatur and seen the Atlanta K9 Solutions truck and stopped to talk to Craig, the K9Boss. He invited me to come in so I can see a demo of his dog Rain and to do an evaluation with Chief. I decided to the 14 day board & train Obedience and Protection package. I asked a lot of questions and they were very thorough with the answers. I called almost every day to check up on my dog. They sent videos of him and allowed me to talk to him over the phone. He learned German commands in 2 days! (That made me really comfortable with the trainers.) The 14 days felt like months. When I went in to picked Chief up, they brought me into a room where I could observe him working with the trainer without him seeing me. They explained to me that in order for me to have a well behaved dog, I must be consistent and use the leash. If I don't have the leash, I don't have control. They also explained that I need to come to training (private and/or Saturday group classes & Sunday obedience & Protection). Sunday protection class is handled by Darius who is a certified Decoy. He challenges the dogs by using different mechanisms with the dog, in order for the dog to protect its owner. They are very flexible as long as you communicate with them. They also travel to your home for an additional cost. I cannot make up any excuses as to what my dog is doing wrong and why, because it is up to me to handle him and MOST IMPORTANTLY MAKE TIME & go to classes. As an female owner of a male GSD, I cannot complain about my dog not working or being obedient if I do not know that I am the MASTER! Keep up the good work guys!
