Mairi and Tommy are both professionally trained dancers who've enjoyed successful, international careers in ballet. Mairi and Tommy fell in love with ballroom dancing and established MaiTy Dance to make their passion and dance expertise, as well as the physical and mental benefits of regular dancing, available to everyone. What? Our mission is to provide metropolitan Richmond with the best custom dance lessons possible. We are guiding our students to their goals with honesty and integrity, one student or couple at a time. We cater for dancers of any age and ability with professional or casual dance classes; our services include classes for country clubs, seniors, coming-of-age events and wedding dances. We're totally flexible and ensure that all our students learn something new and discover a unique way to meet people and have a great time. We bring the energy and excitement of dancing to all would-be dancers in Richmond, VA! Both Mairi and Tommy's enduring fondness for ballroom dancing lead to a total transition from ballet to ballroom, as they followed their passion for dancing as art, rather than sport. In Charlotte, North Carolina, Mairi and Tommy trained and danced together professionally in ballroom and Latin dance before moving to Richmond, Virginia to be closer to family and begin a new chapter in their dance careers. Newly married and wanting to pass on their knowledge and love of dance, Mairi and Tommy established their own dance company in Richmond, taking the affectionate nickname given to them by previous students, Team MaiTy, to create MaiTy Dance through which the couple continue to learn, teach and of course, dance. MaiTy Dance has continued to grow, offering custom dance lessons from fitness to tango across the Richmond area. MaiTy guides students of all abilities to their personal dancing goals, likening their teaching style to a couture wardrobe: tailored to suit the customer. Mairi and Tommy look forward to dancing the Argentine tango together well into old age, but they've got plenty of teaching years in them yet!
