FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
When I bid on jobs through Tumbtack, it means I have extra un-filled time in my schedule and I am going to work at a discount to my normal rates. So know in advance that the price I am bidding is already a discount (often significant) over what my work is normally billed at. This is important for you to know because not all videographers or editors are created equal. I have two decades of experience solving problems in the field and figuring out how to get the job done right. That know-how is applied to every job I take on Thumbtack as a value-added. Maybe I'm not the cheapest bidder, but you get what you pay for!
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Understanding a client's intention is the necessary first step toward accomplishing the goal. I make sure clients are informed of my strengths and weaknesses so they can be assured that I am the right fit. I help make sure that cost structure is explained and understood before proceeding.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My formal education was not in media production, which is a major asset. Not only do I bring strong production skills to the table, but I am intelligent and personable with a sense of the big picture. My technical skills were learned on the job, first in television news and later in documentary film and corporate/non-profit video production. In 20 years' experience, there are very few problems I can't solve.
