Introduction: Hello! I am a violinist and violin teacher located in Palo Alto. I have a studio of students ranging from beginner to advanced (ages 5 and up.) My students have received top scores in the RCM, NYSSMA, and ABRSM examinations, joined local orchestras and won various competitions. It is my goal to bring out the greatest potential in every student by tailoring every lesson towards the direct needs of each individual student. By learning the violin, students develop skills in creative thinking, problem solving, communication and a stronger work ethic. Skills outside of music will be empowered such as public speaking, self-discipline, time management and self-confidence. The potential of every child is unlimited. I am open to anyone who has the desire to learn the violin. I am trained to work with students of all ages and aim to build a love of music, good work habits and outstanding achievement in every student beyond their expectations. As a Suzuki teacher, I am trained to work with the youngest of musicians in a fun and nurturing way. I focus on establishing a solid technical foundation and work with the student to achieve their individual goals. I enjoy watching my students discover the joy of learning an instrument and making music. It is a pleasure to see students progress and develop skills that will impact their lives in positive ways. I holds degrees from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, to the University of Performing Arts in Graz, Austria, and Stony Brook University in New York.

My main instrument is piano, however I have taken a year of violin lessons during my composition studies in Austria. I wanted to focus on my string instrument writing and also develop my violin playing skills (at the age of 33!). Dr. Elizabeth proved herself to be a great teacher, who didn't only make my lessons fun (believe me, it's not that easy when you are at a certain age), but also made made things very interesting to me by relating the techniques I learned to string instrument writing (which is an amazing experience for a composer!). Sometimes when I arrived early for my lessons, I observed Dr. Elizabeth with children and talked to some of the students' parents. They all speak highly of her and are very happy with their children's musical development. I am (also) a music teacher at UC Berkeley, and have seen all kinds of teachers throughout my career and I can confidently say that you can't go wrong with Dr. Elizabeth. I still continue my weekly lessons and am amazed how much I've developed as a violinist since we started working together. Thank you Dr. Elizabeth, see you next week!

Dr. Elizabeth hass been teaching my son privately for a few months now and I have seen him progress steadily. She is very clear with her instructions and pays attention to detail to ensure her students are given a strong technical foundation from the very beginning. She brings a great deal of energy to the lesson. My son has enjoyed his lessons with her thoroughly and I would highly recommend Dr. Elizabeth to anyone interested in taking violin lessons! Mark
