Steve Brueckner: Math Tutor & Computer Pro
About this pro
As a private tutor, I've worked with more than 100 students of all ages and grade levels: Common Core, Elementary School, Adults returning to college, SAT, ACT, GED, CLEP, ASVAB - You name it, I've taught it. Over the years in my professional career, I’ve learned a wide range of computer skills and now own and operate a PC Repair & IT Consulting business. I have over ten years of experience working with students of all ages and grade levels. I work with students with a wide range of difficulties and learning disabilities. I'm also proud to say that most of my students find me through simple "word-of-mouth".
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?Elementary School: 40/hour - Prepaid: 4 hours for 140 (Save $20) Middle School: 50/hour - Prepaid: 4 hours for 175 (Save $25) High School: 60/hour - Prepaid: 4 hours for 210 (Save $30) College: 65/hour - Prepaid: 4 hours for 225 (Save $35) Exam Prep: 80/hour - Prepaid: 4 hours for 280 (Save $40)
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I start with focusing on the immediate need of the student (current lessons, homework, studying for tests, etc.) As I learn more about the student's strengths and weaknesses, I find what practices work best in helping the student learn. Once we "fine tune" studying and mental habits, I then focus on teaching the student how they can identify what specific issues they have, WHY, and how they can train themselves to overcome them.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?I started tutoring when I was in high school. Because I had done very well on the recent tests, I was given the opportunity to help other students after-school for extra credit. After seeing how much I had helped my fellow students, my teacher had suggested I start doing it privately. Ever since, I have constantly been challenging myself to teach more and more. I'm very proud to say that over the years, I haven't done much advertising. An overwhelming majority of the students I tutor come from "word-of-mouth" referrals. Because of my approach, students see results almost immediately. Over time, as their grades continue to rise, they learn how to consistently improve on their own mentalities and study habits.
