Introduction: Hello! I am currently a student at Sacramento State University, entering my last semester before I move on to a Teaching Credential Program. I will be graduating in December with a Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Studies. I currently have an A.A. in Liberal Arts, with Honors from Sierra College. School was challenging for me as a child and I did not find a true passion for learning until college. I feel that since I struggled with education in elementary years I am able to easily empathize with my students who are struggling. I understand the importance of fundamentals and building a strong educational foundation. There is nothing that brings me more joy than seeing a child regain confidence in themselves after having struggled and fallen behind in school. I feel that what makes me uniquely qualified to tutor students in math is my experience in tutoring the subject at all Elementary levels. I also recently took a course at Sacramento State that's purpose was to learn MANY different methods to teach math concepts. Often students who struggle with math simply need the concepts presented to them in a different fashion, I am able to present them with several options until we find the one that is a perfect fit for them. English has always been my strong suit and I am very comfortable tutoring students in English and Language Arts. I also have several years experience in working with children who are behind in reading, writing, and grammar because English is their Second Language. I found my passion for education at a young age and have tutored since high school. I have also worked for a well known tutoring center and had great success there. Beyond private and center tutoring I have been a classroom aide where I spent most of my time working with children with English as their Second Language. I look forward to working with your student and helping them to achieve their academic goals!

FAQs

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

As soon as I send a quote I begin to research the specific areas of concern that the client has highlighted in their inquiry. To start, I will look up the State Standards for the students grade level to see exactly what is expected of them academically, I will refer to strategies that I have used, with success, when working with other students in the same areas. I often search online for at least an hour or two to find information on some common reasons why students often struggle in that particular area and what solutions were found to help them better understand the subject(s). From this point I set up a free in-person consult so that I can meet with potential clients and get into the specifics of their students troubles. After the meeting I will do some more homework and arrive with a well stocked arsenal of strategies when I meet my new student for our first tutoring session.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Graduated with an A.A. in Liberal Studies with a concentration in Elementary Education. I will be graduating in December from Sacramento State University with a B.A. in Liberal Studies, a minor in Humanities and a TESOL Certificate.
