Introduction: I am not only a fine performer but an expert piano teacher. For over 15 years I have been teaching jazz, blues, pop, hip-hop, beginning classical, and vocal coaching to piano students of all ages and skill levels. I am especially gifted at using a student’s strengths to tailor the lessons so that the student is engaged and having an enjoyable experience. I am happy to travel to students' homes. I enjoy finding a way to meet students where they are in terms of musical interest and skill set.

Dan has been an excellent piano instructor for me, my 10-year-old daughter, and my 5-year-old son. I want my children to stick to piano and so it was important to me that we find an instructor they like -- and they really, really like Dan. I appreciate that he gets a sense of the kind of music his students like and tries to introduce music that will be both challenging and fun. He is patient and kind, but still pushes us to improve. I find his feedback on what and how to practice particularly helpful for moving a piece forward. I'm really impressed with how much we have learned in such a short time -- and how much we can already play.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge $40 for a one hour lesson (less for shorter lessons) and I travel to you.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I find out what they would like to learn and figure out over the first few lessons what will help them accomplish that goal. With young children I use materials that allow them to have fun and get a sense of accomplishment from the very first lesson.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I studied jazz piano privately as a teenager, music in college, and have been playing in bands for over 30 years.
