FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
The first consultation is a Free phone conversation so you feel comfortable with me, and then we schedule your initial session for an assessment and indroductory training/education. From there, we will decide on a plan to continue working together with the frequency and price that suits you best. I offer discounted rates for clients purchasing sessions in bulk or on a recurring monthly basis. I also accept most Insurances for Medical Nutrition Therapy with a Dr referral. This must me discussed in detail and preauthorized with your Insurance agency before committing to work with me if intending on using Insurance as your primary means of payment. All payments are due by the start of the session. I accept cash, personal check, or payments through Square Cash, PayPal, Venmo. I also accept major Credit Cards through my Healthie client management system or through a mobile card reader using CardPoint or Square (swipe, chip, and/or Apple Pay). The location of where I will be conducting sessions depends on the services provided. Customers can come to my private practice office in Norwood, MA for Nutritionist and lifestyle coaching related sessions. Follow up sessions may also be at the customer's home, grocery stores, restaurants, etc as needed. There is also the option to include Telehealth or Virtual Consultations as part of a comprehensive support program. For sessions that require us to Exercise, such as with Personal Training, we have two options. Either I travel to the Customer's home or apartment gym, or we can arrange to do Personal Training at a Boston Sports Club in either Waltham, Newton, or Canton. I have been employed with BSC for over 9 years as an Elite level Trainer, and sessions must be at BSC rates and paid through BSC via credit card only.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I treat a new customer like we are starting a relationship. Our first free consultation is a mini-assessment where we have a detailed face to face discussion of lifestyle, habits, medical and exercise history, eating and drinking patterns, and outlining short term and long term goals. We may also take assessment measurements or take a baseline picture to begin the tracking process of the journey ahead. If exercise is involved, the initial session focuses on teaching the fundamentals of correct techniques and an outline of what a customized weekly routine will become. This is also where the framework is developed for meal plans, grocery shopping lists, and the structure for changing behaviors and habits. I individualize the process with each customer...there's no cookie cutting here, because everyone has different needs and should take their own path to achieve success.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I began my education with a Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition and Human Performance at the University of Connecticut, including studies in Athletic Training, Nutritional Sciences, and Business Administration. In 2005 I became certified through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) as a Certified Personal Trainer and as a Strength & Conditioning Specialist. I followed this up with a Master's level graduate program in Nutritional Sciences with a research project comparing the quality of protein in food and its impact on preserving muscle while dieting and exercising. I then went on to a Dietetic Internship at the University of Houston to gain valuable clinical and counseling experience. Soon thereafter in 2008 I passed the national exam to become a Registered Dietitian.
