Introduction: You know those contractors that want to boss you around? Thats not how I do things. I've been in and or around remodeling and constriction all my life. Growing up in a house with a painting contractor for a father. Painting is second nature to me. Through my high school years I took college classes to learn drafting and eventually computer drafting. That lead me into woodworking where I've spent a good part of my adult years. ive designed thousands of kitchens and bathrooms. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I use a series of spreadsheets. Estimating custom work is hard to standardize pricing. I typically itemize a lot of things in my estimates.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Typically i meet with a potential customer at the home or job site. Start with working through a scope of work with them. Usually there's measuring, sketches, notes, exchange pinterest info ha. After that i spend a few days to a week on pricing and design before meeting again.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Grew up in the home of a house painter. 16 years ago I moved into woodworking. Cabinets and architectural millwork is where i spent the last 15 years. Moved out on my own last year.
