FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
The most important thing we can do when working together is have fun! It is crucial for me to get to know someone when creating a portrait or even just fully understanding expectations of how an event is to be portrayed. For this I schedule an in-person creative meeting before the session whenever possible. Taking extra time to do this gets us on the same page and I feel that the results are worth it. An online look-book is created for clients to review styles and samples so I can get familiar with their vision. Even if a client does not have an idea in mind, this will help affirm their preferences. The better I know a person, couple, family, or company the more likely the end product will meet the mark for them. I believe a big part to a successful session is education so I spend some time going over what would make some great shots. For portraits it helps people to be aware of certain poses and movements that work when they are nervous. A little direction beforehand is useful when you don't know what to do in front of the camera. Education before a wedding or other event helps people plan better and prepare certain aspects of the venue from a photography standpoint.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
My graphic design work led me to art direction for an event magazine in Miami. Since then I’ve been designing interiors and environmental graphics which included commercial photography. Creating beautiful images is my passion and I will rarely be seen without a camera. Often I am out scouting locations and searching the best lighting conditions for each.
