FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
We do a project pricing or if it's an existing website and just a few hours are needed we charge by the hour ($75/hr). For projects we do 50% upon start and the balance once we're approved and launched. Our pricing typically covers first year hosting and SSL certificate then clients take over after the first year.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Our typical process is to speak with the client by phone first. This is where having a conversation allows me to start wrapping my head around a project. I want to listen and learn plus ask questions so we can all get a unified vision going in terms of where we're headed and what the website goals are. Communication after that point is either by phone or by email. Once we start building the site and getting into feedback and revisions a lot of our communication will happen by email. Finally once we've tested and been approved and green lighted by the client we'll launch the site.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I built my first website in 1998 for my audio mastering business in Nashville, TN (Audio Refinery - Nashville). I used Microsoft Front Page (yes, I'm laughing too). I move into building Dreamweaver sites soon thereafter. This led to a side business of building websites for music clients and that nature. I've never been one to put all my eggs in one basket. Around 2003 I started up DockGear.com which is a marine dock supply company. I've always had a passion for boating and after building a website for a dock builder I saw a niche opportunity for selling dock supplies like bumpers, ladders and all that stuff online. E-commerce was very new at that point. Fifteen years later I still run that business. I've continued to build websites selectively for clients including my own websites. My schooling really comes from throwing myself in the fire and doing it. I did take some tech classes at New Horizon to get better with PhotoShop but I really taught myself by trial and error. Now almost 20 years later I have a lot of experience under my belt for not only building websites but performing search engine marketing and knowing how to get sites ranked. I follow trends and keep up to date with Google algorithm changes and new W3C best practices for html and css design.
