Joan Case’s college consulting services for my daughter are indispensable. We did not even know how to identify possible colleges to visit because of the overwhelming choices and information. Joan’s methods have made us confident that we are now on the right track. Joan is professional, prompt, caring and incredibly knowledgeable about the college application process, financial choices, and how to navigate the internet while researching colleges. We do not need to worry about missing deadlines for applications or whether we’re going to miss out on possible financial aide because we didn’t know how the system works. A major plus in having Joan work with us is the resulting positive communication between my daughter, my husband and me (much of it initiated by my daughter). The peace of mind that Joan has given us is worth every penny!

It has been a pleasure working with Joan as we navigate our way through choosing colleges. My daughter really connected with Joan, who put her at ease right away! I think she responded so well because of Joan's ability to make such a big life change not only manageable, but much less stressful for all of us. It was obvious that Joan has spent a lot of time visiting many schools. She has an uncanny intuitive feel for a "good fit" between my daughter and what schools she recommended. Joan was well versed in all things financial aid for both public and private schools. She guided us to ultimately develop a viable plan, which is a great relief..! I have various fee structures, based on the needs and preferences of my clients and their families. I'm happy to discuss my fees, based on what you are looking for.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I offer a free one-hour consultation for my clients via Thumbtack. I strive to give you information about what my services entail, and to answer any general questions you have about the college search process particular to YOUR needs. My goal is to provide you with information, as well as giving you a sense of my own style of consulting, so that you are confident in deciding whether you would like to work with me!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I earned a certificate in Independent Educational Consulting, through UC Irvine's program, which educated me in all aspects of the college search and application process. Additionally, I attended the Independent Educational Consultants Association's Summer Training Intensive, which enhanced my knowledge base on all aspects of the application process. Prior to this, I worked as a physical therapist for many years, earning my graduate degree from Duke University.
